Our D.O.P. wines
The oldest Italian manuscript music code, the Laudario of Cortona, dating back to the 13th century, is kept in a leather case in Cortona. It belonging to the church of San Francesco, home to a small shelter called "Le Cellette", which contains an extraordinary collection of "laude" in local dialect: a unique glimpse into that time!
Inspired by this rich and fertile environment, we have called our D.O.P. wines "Laudario". Natural, elegant and "alive", they are produce by us in their purest form and they are particularly suitable for aging.
They are matured for one year in steel tanks and then, from 16 to 18 months, in 1,000 - 2,500 litre French oak barrels medium toasting. After six months of bottle aging, they are then ready for marketing.
Our wines I.G.P.
The "I Vicini" winery also produces more fresh and fruity I.G.P. wines, which are not aged in oak barrels and are on the market as early as in their second year.
Also as a reminder of the area where they are produced, these wines borrow the name from an old "loggia", visible from the the Town Hall square in Cortona at the base of the XIII century building that dominates this square. In the XI-XIV centuries in many Italian cities such loggias were built.
They were called Parlero or Arengario and were the enclosed space from where the leaders of the city harangued the people. Even Florence has its "loggetta" located at the base of Palazzo della Signoria.
"Arengario" therefore our I.G.P. wines take their name, our proposal for for admirers of fresh and fragrant wines to enjoy among friends.
